DD306 Living political ideas : Registered for my last course........

I first registered for the OU in November 2010, started studying in Feb 2011 and have now registered for my last course due to start October 2015 and end in June 2016.

It feels like a milestone of some sort, and 2011 seems an awful long time ago now. Between one thing and another it is difficult to remember a time when I wasn't looking forward to a course starting or worrying about an impending TMA deadline.

I wonder what I will do with myself when I am not studying, I suppose I'd better find a hobby :-) I certainly won't be doing another OU course, not because I wouldn't like to but because the costs of the courses these days are just to expensive. If I wasn't lucky enough to have started this prior to the change in fees and have been able to enjoy the traditional fees arrangement my study would have stopped some time ago.

You never know, a new government with a social concious might reduce or scrap tuition fees, maybe this would be an ideal issue for Labour and the SNP to unite on.....

There has been a number of decisions regarding the choice for the last module.

I did at one point think about Philosophy and A333, but the A222 philosophy was at times a real drag and I'm not sure I could go through that again.

DU301 - A world of whose making? is no longer being run, so this left me with the choice between the older and established DD306 Living Political Ideas and the relatively new DD313 International Relations, continuity and change.

After a bit of research on the Facebook groups, I have plumped for DD306.

So, DD306 Living Political Ideas, in six months we will meet again......

New Level 3 Politics - DD313 International relations: continuity and change in global politics

When I started out on this course, probably late in 2010 I had thought about doing the Politics Level 3 course A world of whose making? (DU301) , well it was cancelled and I never really fancied the alternative Living political ideas (DD306) so it is a relief that this course looks pretty good.

I think I'm pretty committed to the Level 3 economics course at this stage, and depending on how I get on with that result will decide which course I take as the final course in the PPE degree. If I need a good mark to get the final grade I wish I will go with  International relations: continuity and change in global politics (DD313) , otherwise if the course is mainly for my interest and enjoyment, I will probably go with Key questions in philosophy (A333).

DD301 to be replaced by DD313 : International relations: continuity and change in global politics

A world of whose making? (DU301)  which is the level 3 Politics Module  if you are studying for a PPE, is running for the last time in this October.

This module will be replaced by a new module, called International relations: continuity and change in global politics ( DD313 ) in October 2014.  Dr Daniel Conway is involved in the course production.

I haven't seen nay further information on this course but it looks interesting as a possible Level 3 Politics choice.

DD101 Introducing the Social Sciences - All Signed Up

Well there you go...... remarkably easy...... a couple of minutes on the internet, a quick phone call and I'm now £650 lighter and starting Introducing the social sciences (DD101) in late January.

Late January! I want to start now, especially after I got my OU login and found out that the course material is not due to be sent until December, and the course website doesn't go live until late January either.

So what to do....... I've picked the rest of the courses I think I want to do to complete a BA (Honours) Politics, Philosophy and Economics, with the Qualification Planner,

Current modules

Introducing the social sciences (DD101)

Intended modules

Level 2
Economics and economic change (DD202)
Exploring philosophy (A222)
Power, dissent, equality: understanding contemporary politics (DD203)
 Level 3
A world of whose making? (DU301)
Doing economics: people, markets and policy (DD309)

....... and I've played around with the Predict Your Degree Classification, but all that has achieved is confirming how much work there is coming up.

So not much else to do now except wait.
